✨ Big Life Update: I've Moved to the Bay Area
These days find me wandering through mossy forests, retreating to my private cabin, and soaking in the hot tub at our community house. I'm connecting with new friends and launching exciting new projects that have been brewing in my mind for some time.
I feel immensely grateful for these ancient trees and new landscapes that now surround me. There's something about being nestled among redwoods that grounds and inspires me in ways I never expected.
And yes, banana slugs exist! I had no idea these bright yellow creatures were real until I encountered one on a morning hike. Nature continues to surprise me.
A Return to My Roots: Integral Circling
I'd love to share a story that reveals some of my deepest passions and what's next on my journey. This announcement is especially for those interested in the practice of Circling and relational transformation.
Two months ago, I spent a weekend in Tucson, Arizona. The desert landscape was starkly beautiful, though admittedly quite dry! While I'm not sure I could ever permanently call the desert home, my soul was incredibly nourished during those five days—so much so that I'm already planning my return in May.
Joshua Zader has built a thriving circling community there, offering immersive experiences every three months. For their next gathering (May 2-4, mark your calendars!), I'll be training facilitators in Integral Circling—a practice that holds profound significance in my journey.
Coming Full Circle
I was teaching this practice eight years ago, and I'm experiencing what feels like a full circle moment—a surprising resurgence of aliveness and purpose. This wasn't something I planned or strategized; it feels more like the universe is pulling this out of me, guiding me back to work that once shaped my life so profoundly.
For those who were involved in the Authentic Relating and Circling Movement between 2012-2018, the Integral Center is legendary. We hosted numerous weekly circling and AR events, with dedicated practitioners traveling from as far as Europe and Australia to take courses and connect with our community.
After years of intensive training with circling leaders and facilitating countless sessions myself, I eventually ventured into a new mission. I found myself repeatedly asking: how could I share this depth and presence in a way that would resonate with more people—not just those already focused on psychology and spirituality?
This question led me around the world, translating circling practices into what became "The Art of Being Human." This evolved into a structured 2-day course with teachings that has allowed thousands to experience the presence and connection possible through relational practice.
After co-founding ART and teaching in 20 cities across multiple continents, I needed rest. The past couple of years have been a different, more inward journey for me. While I've taught occasional courses for AuthRev and developed smaller projects, I've known in my heart that someday I'd want to bring something into the world that was truly my own creation—a vehicle for transformation accessible to many people.
The Dormant Years and New Beginnings
A year after the Boulder center closed, Integral Circling went dormant for over 5 years, with no formal way for people to learn this school of practice. Looking back to 2016, Robert Macnaughton hosted The Relational Leadership Summit, bringing together leaders from different schools to discuss their unique approaches and insights. This kind of dialogue is vital, and will be an essential part of the new Integral Circling School's mission—comparing and contrasting different approaches so practitioners can truly understand the landscape.
In recent conversations with people in both the Relatefulness, Circling and European communities, I've realized that many people want to learn to facilitate Circling, but the current options are limited in scope and accessibility.
The Big Announcement: Integral Circling Returns
🎉 I'm thrilled to announce that Integral Circling is coming back! Today marks the opening of Integral Circling School, an online community and platform for courses. I'll be offering an opportunity to practice in this lineage, along with comprehensive facilitator training and a path to certification.
With circling, we create space to explore ourselves and others in a slow, dynamic way, leaping together into the mystery of the unknown. Drawing from my 7 years of leading Authentic Relating Training, I understand that aspiring facilitators need clear guidance and structure. I'm creating a robust curriculum that revives many of the teachings that accelerated my own growth a decade ago.
The team coming together to support this mission fills me with excitement and confidence. If you were part of the original circling community, I'd love to hear from you—please reach out!
